D20 Roller

Roll a D20 Online

Attack rolls, saving throws, ability checks — roll your D20 here.

When Do You Roll a D20?

The twenty-sided die is the foundation of Dungeons & Dragons 5th Edition and all d20-system games. You roll a D20 whenever you attempt an action whose outcome is uncertain:

  • Attack rolls — does your sword hit the enemy?
  • Ability checks — can you pick the lock, jump the chasm, or persuade the guard?
  • Saving throws — do you resist the dragon's fire breath or the wizard's charm spell?

Add your modifier to the result, then compare to the target's Armor Class or the Difficulty Class set by the DM.

Advantage and Disadvantage

In DnD 5e, some situations call for advantage (roll two D20s, use the higher) or disadvantage (roll two, use the lower). Use the mode buttons above to simulate this automatically.

A natural 20 is a Critical Hit on an attack roll — maximum effect. A natural 1 is a Critical Failure, always missing regardless of bonuses.
